Welcome New Friends

The beginning of a school year, all children are learning the routine and the rules of the classroom and the expectation of the teachers. We are learning about our classroom community, our friends, our teachers and all the things we have in the classroom. We get to learn about each other and the classroom mostly through free play, while children are playing in the pretend center, cooking food, socializing or at the table playing with kinetic sand, play dough and slime or at the art table creating master pieces. Apart from that we also do art as a group. We did free painting, mixing color with marbles and straws, mixing crayon and water color, Q tip painting, painting with ice cubes, chalk drawing outside and glue and sand art. We also filled our sensory table with things that tickle their senses such as pond play (water, fish, frog, lily pad and lotus flower), noodle play (colorful noodles, tweezers, little erasers), alphabet soup (colored water, letters & strainers), garden play (pretend grass, vegetable toys, watering cans, rakes), bubble play (soapy water, whisks, sponges). Sometimes we bring things from outside for children to play such as exploring sun flowers and leaves. We always try to play outside whenever possible but when the weather turned to the worst, we had lots of fun playing inside as well. We did Yoga, parachute play, follow the leader dance and ribbon dance. In the classroom, we discussed about being good friends to each other, telling each other how we feel and giving and listening to each other messages while we play.
