Welcome family and friends. We started a new school year and first thing to do is to get to know each other. We talked about what food we like, what toys we like to play, what's our favorite color, our favorite animal etc, We made new friends, got to know new teachers and learned the rules and expectation of the classroom. In the classroom, we played with play dough, we played in the kitchen and pretend cooking meals for each other, we used manipulative toys to build, create and construct whatever our imagination allow us and of course we used markers, crayon, color pencils and paints to draw, write and color.
As we learned about colors & being nice to our friends through reading "One" & "Red" then learned our emotions with "The Color Monster", we got really interested in monsters. After we discussed about what makes us happy, sad, angry and afraid, we started to discuss about monster. We discussed where they come from, where can we see them, what do you do when you see them and so on. We drew our own monsters and we made 3D monster art using playdough, sticks, rocks and leaves that we collected outside. As the leaves began to change color, the children were interested in the magnitude the leaves' color so we started a new discussion about the changing color leaves. We looked at the falling leaves, the tree and we discussed what did we notice outside, what we know about fall/autumn and why the leaves are changing their color. The discussion will continue until we find other things that the children are interested in.
Some of the activities we did are collecting leaves to make a collage, put them in our sensory table and did a "Can you find...? game," drew fall tree outside, did an experiment to separate the leave's chlorophyll and looked at different books about fall. We also drew our own monster and wrote our own scary story then read them in front of our friends!
The books that we read are...
The letters we learned are...
