The new year started with a new theme called "Shadows & Reflections." It's a pretty difficult concept to learn but the children learned it in very fun ways. We changed our pretend center into a movie theater, we made a ticket booth where children can buy pretend tickets, popcorn, pop & candies then the children pretended to watch movies through a projector, we even made sign of their favorite movies. The children also played with light table with different objects. As we learned about shadows, we drew their shadow, we also made their head silhouettes using projector to form shadows on the wall. We learned the difference between shadows & reflections, we played with different kind of mirrors, put mirror on the table and checked out the reflection of different objects and we used personal mirrors and drew our own reflection. To enhance their play, there were cameras, view finders and microphones. This theme, we made "dirt bucket" as our special snack. While we read "Moonbear's Shadow," Moonbear went fishing and used worm for bait so we put chocolate pudding as mud, crushed graham crackers as sand and hid gummy worm for the children to find in their cups. We also had a "Pajama Party," when we learned letter Pp, children came in pajamas, we ate pear, pineapple, peach fruit mix with pretzel and watched Peppa Pig shows about shadows & reflections. It was fun!!
