Family to baby

After the little project with fall/autumn, we started the new project by talking about family. We had a discussion of who are in our families, where do we live and what are things that we do together. We drew our family portrait, our first book to read was "Noisy Nora" so we decided to paint with noisy sounds around us such as traffic jam, dropping marbles on the floor (like in the story) and baby crying. The result was amazing, some were bothered, some didn't seem to hear the noise and some painted things they heard in the noise. We used the left over paint to free painting on a big butcher paper then when it dried up, we cut them into little pieces where children can draw anything using markers.
As the weeks continued the children showed interest in babies, they started to ask questions about them so we talked about "What do they know about baby?" and "What do they want to know about baby?" Based on their questions, we did our weeks trying to answer all their questions. Such as what do baby eat? so we tried baby food and formula, you can see our graphic organizer whether they like it or not. We also discussed the same and different between preschoolers and baby. When we read "Julius, The Baby of The World", we made our own poems about our baby sister/brother or about us when we're a baby. We learned a lot about baby such as when they started growing teeth, why do they need burping, when they started to walk and more. We also painted with baby food texture paints and our cooking activity was making banana bread. Other activities we did were Kids Yoga, water play at sensory table and snow exploration. As the weeks and their interest started to wane, we did a discussion of "What did they learn about baby?" check out their amazing answers.
