This theme we learned about the weather and the different seasons. We added a meteorologist job in the classroom where each day a child observes the weather of the day and reports to the rest of the class. We did art project for each season each week. For winter, we made snow art using glue and salt, for spring, we did seeds art (we were wondering if the seeds that we use will grow like in the book that we read, so we made an experiment, where we put the seeds in the wet paper towel and put it in a jar. Lo and behold, the seeds grew and grew, the children still water the seedling every day), for summer, we made cloud art by melting blue crayon to make rain (like cloudette from the book that we read) and for fall, we made leaf art by splattering fall color water paint. Our pretend center transformed into a camping site, the children played in a tent, fished, used binoculars to do birds, animals and nature watch (we provided books with different animals, birds and things that can be found in nature then using binoculars they had to find them around the classroom, like nature treasure hunt). They turned into little explorers.
