Black History Month Celebration

On February 19th 2016, our classroom celebrated "Black History Month." We read a book by Johnny Ray Moore called "The Story of Martin Luther King Jr,"  watched a video by Global Wonders on African American people through out history, we did an art project that extend for a few days, we made a dream quilt with every child's dreams and for our snack, we made baked sweet potatoes and peanut free peanut butter and apples. We learned about Martin Luther King Jr and his dream to not be judged by the color of our skin but by the content of our character, a botanist George Washington Carver who invented the many use of peanuts and sweet potatoes,  the first African American to play in a major leagues baseball Jacky Robinson and the first African American female pilot to fly an American Civil Aviator Bessie Coleman.
